Because so much of the area is surrounded by water - either the Gulf of Mexico or the very wide Sarasota Bay, the weather is generally more pleasant in both the summer and winter than the inland areas.

Particularly true along the beaches and keys - Siesta Key, Lido Key, St Armands, Mongboat Key, Bradenton Beacn, Holmes Beach and Anna Maria Beach.
