Honeymoon Vacations
Romanitc Places to Stay:
Many hotels and resorts offer a "honeymoon package", but it might not be listed on their website or brochures. Make sure to let the lodging facility know that youare celebrating your honeymoon. You may not get a break in price, but chances are you'll get some sort of welcoming - a room upgrade, fresh flowers, gifts, etc.
Places for Candlelit Dinner:
Best bets for romance are on the beach areas of Lido Key, Longboat Key and to some extent Siesta Key. The donwtown area also has a few nice restaurants with romantic flair.
Secluded Beaches
Most of the beaches are crowded near the parking lots and dropoff stations, but it's not hard to get away from the noise and crowd if you put a bit of a walk into it. The very norhtern tip of Longoboat Key is rather isolated and has some interesting features.
Shopping:
Boutique shopping at St Armands Circle and downtown are tops, but they area tourist-oriented, so don't look for bargains. The outlet center in Palmetto - just off I-75 is quite large and boasts many name brand factory stores.
Fun Activities:
Jet skiing, kayaking and other forms of boating are a lot of fun, also there are a number of attractions like the Mote Aquarium and Pelican Man Bird Sanctuary that are fun, too.
The Arts:
You don't want to miss the Ringling Museum - entrance is free on Mondays, so save some coin on the entrance fee and then splurge on a nice lunch at the restaurant they have there.
