Lush and liquid - this 18-hole championship golf course in Nokomis (between Sarasota and Venice) sits between us 41 and I-75 at exit 195, yet is worlds away due to the numerous lakes and beautiful tree-lined fairways.
Calusa Lakes Golf Club is a golfer's paradise in Venice and is a favorite among players of all skill levels. There is much to enjoy in each individual hole on this course.

Golf packages are available via local accommodations in the area and the friendly PGA staff at the Calusa Golf Club are at hand to help improve your swing. There are several events conducted on the site; they include Junior Golf, tournaments and leagues along with corporate outings.
Calusa Lakes offers a fabulous wooden terrain that underscores the natural backdrop on a magnificent 18-hole presentation. This course is not only spacious, but is nestled in an environmental community with homes receding way back. Yet, the course manages to intertwine its way through a plethora of Florida landscape and wildlife. In fact, this course was cut out of the forest. Hence, there is an abundance of wildlife and natural beauty, which in itself is something to be enjoyed. It is also located near a natural preserve. There are 15 holes on the course where water comes into play.
The Calusa Lake golf course has a rare mid-Atlantic feel to it, as pine forest and live oaks line the lake banks. Even with the myriad of lakes in play, which gives the course its uniqueness, the Calusa golf course is still player friendly. Once you arrive here, you're in for an unforgettable golfing experience with Calusa's rolling fairways, large greens and fair landing areas.
The Calusa Lakes Golf Club is situated between US 41 and I-75 and is close to the Gulf of Mexico beaches and historic downtown Venice. The venue is just half an hour away from major destinations like Siesta Key, Casey Key, Sarasota, North Port, Englewood, and Port Charlotte. This is a golf only facility with 10 tees driving range and 18 regulation holes.
The clubhouse at the Calusa Club offers a hearty breakfast or lunch and is open to everyone. You can even take a peak at how golfers are doing practicing their shots at the aqua driving range, during your visit to the clubhouse. The golf pro shop is also fully equipped with accessories to enhance your golf. You will most likely look good too with a few purchases of golf merchandise and equipment.
Other aspects that make Calusa Lakes attractive to golfers is that it has mild tropical weather and friendly staff along with prices that are reasonable. Tee times should be made four days in advance of play date. The course rating for the golf course here is 72.7, while the slope rating is 127. The course was designed by Ted McAnlis and opened in 1991.
