If you are a golf lover, you want the best experience possible when it comes to a game of tees and putts. If you have just started learning the ABCs of golf, you probably need a good place to practice your shots. Tatum Ridge Golf Links is a great place to golf for professionals and amateurs alike.

Located on Tatum Road, two miles east of I-75, Tatum Ridge Golf Links came into existence in the year 1989. The golf course has been well maintained over the years to give regulars as well as new guests some great golfing moments every time they are here. Tatum Ridge Golf Links is a beauty in a natural backdrop and is a creation of designer Ted McAnlis.

If you are in the Sarasota area, you should definitely visit this place for a solo round of golf or for a nice family outing. It is almost like a "must-see" for Sarasota vacationers. Why, you ask? Well, Tatum Ridge Golf Links was recently named one of "Golf Digest's 2008/2009 Best Places to Play." This is a Scottish-style, 18-hole par 72 course offering 6,757 yards of golf from the longest tees. You will simply love the way the links are set with preserved wetlands and 11 lakes in a natural environment. Because it is a natural setting, you will find plenty of flora and fauna as spectators of your game.

This links course has rating of 71.9 and a slope rating of 124. What you'll simply adore for a round of golf here is their signature hole number 13, 504-yard, par-5, a dogleg right, over water. The great condition of fairways and greens make up for an excellent game as well. The course was redone recently and now features greens and well-cut fairways of fine blade Bermuda grass. Fairways are of special bermuda grass, Tifdwarf - this grass overseeds and transitions well and is highly effective for year-round games.

While the regulars can take on the challenge of bunkers and water hazards anyway they want to, beginners can start their game at Tatum Ridge's large practice facility. You can practice your skills with their facility's grass tees, chipping from grass, traps, and an 18-hole putting green. In case you need assistance and some game tips, plan to make an appointment with their golf pro. Individual and group instructions are available from Tatum's PGA professional and life member Bob Keller.

Keller also offers free lessons occasionally at Tatum Ridge. Check their events calendar to see upcoming events and schedules of free lessons. You can also create your own social event here, a corporate meeting or a game of golf with friends. Tatum Ridge's staff will make sure you go away with a smile on your face. If you love this place, they have some nice membership options available for individuals and couples for either 6-months or yearly period.

Some other features of this place include a pro shop offering some good golfing merchandise and an onsite restaurant with an exhaustive breakfast and lunch menu. To keep you going during a round of golf, they have a phone on the ninth tee for you to order food at the turn. An on-course beverage cart is available.

Seven days advance period needed to call in for tee times. Tee times can also be scheduled online. Tatum Ridge requires professional golf attire and permits soft spikes only. Play here and see if you can knock down their course record of 64.
