Anna Maria Island Turtle Watch

January 19, 2012

This not-for-profit organization is dedicated to the continued survival of the Loggerhead Sea Turtle.

Each spring volunteers are recruited and trained to help monitor and manage the turtles nesting beaches of Manatee County. During June and July, the center offers sunrise nesting beach walking tours to the public. Call for reservations.

Adult Loggerheads can weigh up to 400 pounds and can grow to more than three feet in length. Partial funding of this program is through the proceeds from the sale of Florida Sea Turtle License Plate.
